F20B H2B ECU help
so i currently have an f20b bluetop with an h2b kit...on a 99 gsr tranny in my eh2 94 hatchback....nothing special just an intake and open header....now the thing is i am running on a virgin p28 ecu.....dont get me wrong its fine and pulls pretty hard just the rev limiter is around 7,400rpm-7,500rpm....cant really tell....and i know this motors is a high revving motor that red lines at 8,200.......would it make a diffrence either with a p72 gsr ecu or a jdm h22a ecu......i know most of you all will say chip your ecu and tune it....but right now xmas is around and all...dont have much cash....what do you all recomend me to do....which ecu should i be using for now?
I'm not an H2B expert or anything, but I'm going to assume using a B series computer on an H/F engine is not what you want to do. There are many more things to consider than the rev limiter...the entire mapping is different.

yea i considered the the base maps are totally diffrent....i got a buddy here in town running a jdm h22a eg hatch...with a p28 kenji ecu with a ITR base map....and its running prime time...runs 13.4's on drag radials at the 1/4 mile...its not sluggish ..vtec crossover is smooth and all......but i still have that doubt about this p28 virgin ecu....that this ride can do so much better on a diffrent ECU.....thoughts?
Get the ECU chipped and get the right map on there, or get the right ECU for the engine. Seriously now, you're running a 2.2L engine with an ECU meant for a 1.6L SOHC engine. Whether your car feels fine or not doesn't matter, I guarantee that it's running very lean & the timing is way off, especially at higher rpms. The same goes for your friend. He may be pulling 13's in the quarter mile, but he'd be better off with the correct base map or ECU. If you don't have the $ to chip it with the right base map, then drive it like a grandma until you do. Seriously, you're headed for a very pricey mistake.
yea so the p28 is def not a good idea. i have the same swap and when i first got it i used my p28 to start it and to make sure it ran around the block and i could tell that it was def not the right ecu there def wasnt enough fuel. so i swaped to my chipped p28 with probley a ebay spoon map don't know. it has a kool 9500 redline (motor killer). but it was a little better nothing great it was good for my cr-vtec. i just did that down the street. then i went and put in my http://www.phearable.net/ ecu. which was almost dead on. yea it felt fast with all of these ecus but i knew there was more.
the point of all this is after i got my ecu tuned i went from like 125hp to 183hp. my tunner spent 2 hours starting from almost scratch. the f20b required the most advanced timming he had ever seen. but everything runs perfect it is smoth at any rpm and there is always power which wasnt there with the other ecus had to ride the rpms. i will go back and have him do a second tune to squeeze out those last few Hp which isnt neccesary. but why not? if your looking for tuners there is a forum on H-T that has a list of them by area, do a search i dont remember it.
