Pull the plugs spin it over a few times to get any water out, take the intake off incase the filter is soaked. Put the plugs back in and try and fire.

can you use a vacuum through the spark plug hole with a big long narrow extension?

buy an aem bypass if you can get that motor going.

Oh, and your honda ain't no submarine!

sorry about your situation dood. Good luck!

You will usually bend a rod, but sometimes its minor and will still run, just tick, enough to get ya home.

yeah, dry that thing out and then see if it will try to start. if it knocks, tear it apart, probably bent a rod.

been there done that. I bent a rod. good luck. hydro lock sucks. if your man enough you can pull out your plugs, but a vacuum hose down into the cylinder and suck the water out. kinda leaves a bad taste in your mouth though!! but it got my car back home. bent rod and all.

if it bent a rod bad enough it will lock the engine.

Badluck man. I came close to hydro lock once but engine didnt quite choke, f&*king lucky. Anyway my brain has a built in alarm now that goes off even when i see a puddle.

Regarding your prelude, if you have done all that has been suggested and she wont start up then you are going to have to open her up and find out what damage has been done, goodluck man.

shoulda cranked it by hand first to start.. you probably bent the rod turning the motor with the spark plugs still in. but just in case, crank it by hand in the driverside wheel well area. if it turns freely, you're okay. if its stuck at any point, time for a new motor

Garden grove? Dude! do you have a white prelude and live on magnolia st? It was flooding like a muthf*** on magnolia yesterday near in&out. I saw a white prelude submerged underwater like a submarine LOL i felt so sorry for ittt >_> It's funny too cause i was running through flooded areas/puddles just to make a giant splash wave ( not knowing about hydro locking) now im not doing that anymore after reading this! =[ Luckily i didn't get water in my engine though.. I ran into a dip with about 4-7 inches of water with my intake resonator removed while running a crappy *** short ram filter from ebay @_@

just make a shield under your filter to deflect water.. or better yet just leave the intake filter behind the headlight. you don't need a cold air intake in the rain unless if you're trying to die. (Hydroplaning vs. "hydrolocking")

Deffinitly try to hand turn the motor over.. dont try to crank it with the key.
If it moves then you should do a OIL change ASAP and get any water out of the oil system.
Check your fuses. do a compresison test/leakd0wn test.

All of this you can do yourself. The leakdown te$t will require a air compressor.

This is all dependant on it turning over by hand.

Good luck and report back.

Icon2 CAI help

I have a Civic 06 and a cold air intake that sits right in front of the drivers side front wheel. Water splashing from the tire and all the rain go right into this stupid filter. The car has choked and stalled once before with no damage to the engine, but it did it again tonight. Had to abandon it until it quits raining. I'm thinking about chopping the pipe off and shortening the whole thing to avoid this in the future. I wasn't even in a puddle- just light to regular rain. I've seen the hydro sleeves, bypass filters and splash guards online, think that any or all would fix this problem instead of surgery? Any suggestions? BTW- I bought the car like this and am not a diy car person.

won't an AEM bypass be easier than pulling his intake and going stock? It is winter though and CAI's arn't good for cold weather with the condinsation it would create (or sweating), so maybe a stock intake would be a good idea.
