Default gasket issue with p&p'ed head

so if you have port and polished head intake and exhaust side, would there be stock gasket issues?

Which gasket? Head, intake or exhaust? You may have to open up the ports on the gasket a bit....

it should only be opened up to gasket size, hence no gasket issues.

Then why even bother porting a head? that doesn't seem right to me.

on my hondata gasket I had to port it out just a little bit but nothing extreme!

You wont any issues.

hope this helps

the theory is, that unless you have manifolds whos ports are the same size as stock, you're not gaining anything by englarging the ports on the head. then what you'll get is a column of air knocking into that overhang that you've just created. i think the features on a head that net the most change are the throats of the ports (not the mouths) and the chamber itself.

if your intake/exhaust is the same size as your gasket , then their would be no point in making the gasket match the head but if your manifolds are matched up to your head[which they should be for the most power] then you would need to port the gasket too.

and yea the most power comes from the flow/shape of the port rather than the size but a good port job is gonna be bigger in the mouth too.
