Default civic dies out of no where.

i have a 93 honda civic and it dies once in a while.. it doesnt die all the time but just sometime when i stop. it sounded like it bogs right when i try to move and it dies. so i replace the fuel filter and that wasnt the problem so then i got new spark plug and wires and it still does it.. it doesnt die all the time just once in a while so i want to fix it before it gets worse. what else could be the problem.

Check the coil and the ignition control module in the distributor.

how do you spray something into your IACV? without disconnecting the coolant hoses or even taking it off for that matter, while your engine is running? can you elaborate a bit more for the OP...i cant see this possible. either way like mentioned before try checking dizzy(cap, rotor, ICM, coil) mine died it was the coil but sense your dies only randomly...try to see if your grounds are tight.

Based on my own experience and reading Honda forums for years, the top candidate for a car that dies while running and coming to a stop is the ignition coil. Especially if the dying-at-stops happens only after warmup (e.g. 20 minutes after a cold start in the morning). It is a good idea to replace the igniter (a.k.a. ignition control module) at the same time, since the coil's electrical variations directly affect the igniter's electronics.

Use only OEM parts. They are not that much more expensive and pay for themselves in longevity and saving wear and tear on other parts. Your best prices for OEM parts generally are at online parts sites like www.bkhondaparts.com

An excellent resource for narrowing down and correcting start/run problems is http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/faq.html#startrun . This site is based on the many anecdotal reports on honda forums of start/run problems, so it too is about probability.

so i opened up my distrupitor and notice the rotor and the cap looks really bad, so i replaced it. then the little spring on the ignition control moduel came off and was wondering if i need that because it feels like imposible to put it back on it.
