Flywheel Weight: What do you run / recommend ?
Just wondering what everyone is running. What kind of power levels, brand, and weight.
Is super light 7lb-8lb the best for drag racing or would you say something more like 10lb-12lb (more inertia during shifts)
BTW who makes the lightest flywheel for B-series out there.

we run a 6 lb flywheel with our tilton twin disc setup -- have for years, no problems at all
they do offer a 10 lb flywheel option too that is popular
i believe a fidanza 7.5 lb flywheel may be the lightest available on the market right now for a standard single plate clutch setup

200 whp range.. ran the 12 lb ACT and now a 8 lb Toda.. 60ft stayed the same.. no probs on launch at 6500 rpm. its the same, but but only evidence of an increase is i went to a 4.9 FD when throwing in the 8 lbs FW, and i got down a .4 tenths/second reduction in ET and +3 mph. not sure how much is related to the trans, and how much is related to the FW.
same track. similiar conditions.. only change was the trans and FW. either way i cannot believe the FW is causing any disadvantages. 12 lbs is slightly easier to street drive however, but its nothing that cannot be fixed with 1-2 days of getting used to it

it is all about where on the flywheel the weigt is not so mucg how light it is. if it is thick in the mittle and thin and like swiss cheese around the edges it could act like lighter flywheel but the total mass is more..
ive been running Fidanze 7.5lb Flywheel for over 4 years now. several different motors. B16 all motor b20/vtec. 400 whp LS turbo. and now ill be using it on my 600 HP GSR build. No random stalls. i guess i shift fast enough not to see drastic RPM drops when racing.

i have a 7.5lb flywheel and it runs great, only time it ever died on me was the very first time it ever cranked up, i reved it up and when it came back down to idle it just went down and died, recranked it and haven't had the problem since.
