flywheel??
I have searched around and came to a conclusion that a lightened flywheel is a good investment. Your engine will rev much faster and many people claims that it is the best mod they have ever done but does anyone have any timeslips to back it up? I know that it is excellent in terms of auto x but I would also like to see the gains in the 1/4 mile, if theres any.. TIA
I have not installed my light flywheel yet. General consensus is. Lighter is better, except for drag. When reving for a take off, a heavier flywheel holds more energy, and you should be a better 60' at least.
Note: This is for cars in general. I have no idea of the affect on a teg, but it should help autocrossing. Depending on who you talk to, the flywheel qualifies as unsprung weight also.

That is what I wonder? There are many articles on the net that refer to lightweight flywheels reducing unsprung mass. I have not figured out how this works. I can understand rotational mass (flywheel, brakes, wheels, axles).
Normally I would think of this as possible misuse of the term, but I have seen some very detailed pages referring to this as unsprung weight. I personally don't think it is unsprung mass though.
