P/S removal
I just removed my p/s and they steering is very heavy when at low speeds or at a stand still. Now before anyone gets smart and says its supposed to be like that, its not. I think it has something to do with the rack. Has anyone removed their p/s on a GSR? If so what did u do to the rack as far as modifications. I heard that you can get a CX rack but thats ALOT of work. Any suggestions would help. TIA
sorry to tell you this man but thats the way the steering gets if you drive without p/s. I drive around with no power steering and at first it feels heavy but you get used to it and now it just feels normal to me (haven't had my p/s hooked up for about 1 year), doesn't bother me at all...... and I live in LA with all the traffic and messed up roads and all that other madness. Actually, I feel weird whenever I drive a car with p/s now... I don't like it.
I don't know about changing the rack but to me that would just be a total waste of time/money, if your so worried about the steering then just leave your p/s on. Or try it out for a while (at least a week or longer, so you can give it a chance to get used to it) if you don't like it then just put it back on.

When you say you removed your P/S.. did you remove just the belt or the whole system. If the pump is still connected steering effort will be difficult.
Also, I've heard numerous times that the CX manual rack is too slow-not only in an integra: TodaSi's cx hatch has an ITR (or GS-R?) rack (without the p/s) and a proper bypass.
If you read this entire thread I think all your questions will be answered:

Yeah, it's supposed to be tough at low speeds. In fact, it's pretty tough. I've gotten so used to it though after about 4 months, that I just use to arms to turn at low speeds. I like it, a few free ponies and the road feels a lot better.
I tried it for a few days.... it was okay at first, but I find it annoying to have it like that all the time. I also cannot turn the wheel as quickly, even at higher speeds - that makes me nervous. And I'm not a small guy either I can bench 200+ and 180 on the butterfly. HTH.

I've had mine removed. (The belt that is). Actually, it snapped off when boosting.
It does feel hard at first but after a while you get use to it. When at a standstill and trying to move the steering wheel it is hard. But once you start rolling a little bit its easy to turn.

If you are runninig around w/ pressure and fluid still in the system, of course it is going to feel heavy (more so than an actual manual rack).
You need to vent the system, and from what I hear, it's almost as easy to steer as with P/S. Check that link posted above, I have it saved in my favorites.
