Icon2 removing sound deadening leftovers

I took out all of the sound deadening in my car but there is a lot of leftovers on the car still. It's just small little chunks throughout the car, I can take a chisel and remove it but this process is EXTREMLY slow. What other methods are there?

This was before I vacuumed the little peices out but you can still see those "leftovers"

Don't you just love trying to get the tar/glue off around the drain plugs? I'm in the same process right now and its a pain in the ***.

Bump, since our new search function is horrible.

paint stripper then it just wipes off, But be sure to paint the exposed metal the same day other wise it gets a bit of surface rust.

I just put soaked Goo Gone for about 5 hours on the leftover parts and I scrapped it off easily. Its too late right now and my neighbors will complain if I try right now. I guess I will have to give the interior a temp coat of primer cause the Goo Gone kills the paint coating?

I removed all the sound deadening from my trunk in about 10 minutes. Drop some dry ice on it, let it sit for a few minutes and pick at it with a scaper. Takes it off in no time. Just please please please wear thick gloves preferably leather as the dry ice will burn you.

I dropped the ice on for a few minutes then rubbed the deadening with the ice and it came off no problem.

Hope this helps.

x2 after the dry ice has been on it you can just bang it with a hammer and it'll break right off

^ I Used the 3M adhesive remover and it did the job. It stunk but worked. Thanks for the advise. Now its time to paint it.

I know this thread is dead but did you use a wire wheel? Think a hard scrubber will do the trick?

Best way I've seen to do this is buy a bunch of dry ice, crush it up, and dump it on the sound deadening. Once it gets cold it just pops right off, and the bits that are left you can tap with a hammer and they'll come off easily.

Wow. I can't believe I never thought of this. I'll have to give it a shot- I've got two cars that this might do the trick for!
