I am about to paint my '89 crx and I was wondering how much paint I should order (pint or gallon). And also some ways to go about painting it (some examples of problems others had). Also I am thinking of ordering from paintscratch.com are they good? Lemme know!

Stop right now and go research this some more. You don't need to worry about how much paint you need yet because there are 50 other more important steps you need to know about.

Sure doesn't sound like it. BTW to paint a whole car like a crx you'd need 3 qrts probably. To paint a normal car, 4. Be sure you go base/clear insead of single stage, and Id buy a video if I were you. Helped me out.

Ok, Honestly theres nothing wrong with single stage enamel. Alot of people think that its bad or somthing but its ok. Base Coat\Clear Coat is much better in terms of quailty but its much more expensive.

Painting a car, if the paint is custom get as much as possible because... nothing ever maches. I reccomend getting a gallon so that you have plenty left over for accidents and what not.

The best advice anyone can give you is DONT PAINT YOUR CAR!, you may think you know what your doing... but its much much much more complex then you can ever imagine. I can tell you what needs to be done, but you cant learn from someone telling you. If you have painted cars before which I doubt because your asking how much paint you need then you should have no trouble... Good luck...

good luck...i'm doing the same now with my 97 coupe...fun stuff...i'm thinking about going to school for paint and body...i was told i'm pretty good at prep work for never being taught...they have good books on prep and paint by house of kolour at books-a-million. very imformative. but anyways get a gallon like max said...and if you want quality get the dual stage. also make sure you have a good gun and a good high volume air compressor. there is a lot more to worry about then the paint though prep work is key to a great paint job. if you have any questions just ask and i'll answer them as best i can.

I have a 3 stage pearl white paint job and i used 3 and 1/2 quarts of white paint...that was the base coat..then i used chromosone clear which had the pearl in it...3 qts...that should just about do it

 

painting is fun. Prepping and body work sucks.
