idle sucks!
still have my idle problems!@ i did everyth8ing from cleaning my IACV from using annother IACV from a buddy. then sprayed TB clearner to look for leaks. even did my Valve lash! but i cant findddd why its still iidleing at 2000rpm. i adjusted the TPS already so it stoped jumping up and down. but still sits at 2000. HELPPPPPPPPP!!
hmm have you checked if you plugged all your vac hoses and coolant hoses to the right place? check if your tb gasket is bad and have you messed with your tb screw that helps control your idle? also your ignition timing if by chance did you mess with it?
yeah there was like three plugs back there so i switched them around. it worked great idle drop to 1500 but then check engine light was on! then code for my IACV so i switched the plugs back.
sounds like a vacuum leak
other than spraying tb cleaner to check,
try taking the filter off and cover the intake completely (only with your hand temporarily) and see if it still runs
also check hose connections under the IM

checked your throttle cable for binding issues? if it is binding, it will prevent the throttle body from closing down more to idle speed. I had similar problem with my old ej1 civic. I replaced the throttle cable and it solved the problem.

yep this could be a problem. but most likely i think its a vacuum leak....my buddy who did an ls swap into his civic coupe was idling at 2000rpm..so we narrowed it down to a bad tb gasket...after we replaced that the car was still surging idle around 1000-1500rpm...so i told him to recheck his vac hoses again and then he hooked up a vac hose that was sticking out of the intake mani straight to the valve cover...it droppped the idle down but still surged...so i adjusted his idle screw on his tb and it solved the problem..car sounds good now and idles constant at 500-800 rpm while the car is not moving...just check around for stupid ittle things..and lmk more
Well the surging up and down sure brings back memories. I had this issue and when you mentioned that you switched the plugs around and went to the better then I think you were on the right track. Turns out that I had the plugs mixed up- when i finally dug out the helms and checked wire colors they were wrong. I had plugged the wrong one of the three to the purge valve solenoid (white thingy on the IM ) took out the purge valve and the bastard was melted. IACV,purge solenoid and one that goes down (looks like its near the rack and pinion) are 3 similar plugs and once mixed up you need to run the wire colors down to see which one goes where. After changing the purge solenoid and hooking the 3 plugs up correctly the car idled like a dream. BTW I also had cel prior to the correction but none afterward.
