Default Subwoofer underneath the seat

Have any of you guys installed a small powered woofer underneath the front seat?

I'm looking at the Kenwood one, and its ~3.75" thick. I'm not concerned with the thickness as much as the movement of the seat.

So, has it/can it be done?

hmm.... this is more for the sound thread, but with the new lay out i'll chime in. it won't sound good. the box well be to small and unless you port it it's going to flex and make a horrible sound. to give referance, even the pioneer slim sub has a pretty "thick" box if you know what i mean.

The sub I'm looking at is a "all-in-one" thats a sub and amp already packaged together in it's own box. Think Infinity Basslink but smaller.

I'm starting to think that the sliding won't allow it, however.

Just do the spare tire sub if you want to save space.

Not an option; it's my DD and I'm not giving up my spare.

I could possibly just attach it to the back of the rear seats.

i think the rear seat would be a better option...
a sub under the seat is not as easy as it sounds with all the seat brackets and wiring and what not

Yea, it's looking like that. Along those lines; a small 2 channel amp under the seat? For the door speakers? Or would I have the same fitment issues?

The amp would have to be pretty small.

I've got a 50X4 amp under the passenger seat on my DC2.
It does restrict some of the seat movement, as the base no longer goes all the way forward (the slider release catches the amp).
10" sub in the "trunk", facing backwards, sealed box.

If I were to do it again, I would use a small 2 channel amp under the dash for the fronts, and a separate amp in the back for the sub, instead of a single 4 channel amp running the rear channels bridged.

you can also attach the amp to the subbox in the trunk to save space.

I don't think your original idea would work.. it would be really nice though.. I have a 12 inch sub and a 400 watt kenwood amp in my hatch area.. and i'm tired of it being back there..

i plan on getting some 1/4 inch fiber board and cutting and trimming it to fit the rear hatch.. removing the rear seats and just lining that with fabric/carpet.. Get rid of the big box and sub you just use like two little 8 inch speakers or maybe just one.. just a little bit of beat

Even with the spare tire there's way more room around the tire than under the driver seat.

Do not do this. This is a bad idea if you want your amp to last.
You can do a diy fiberglass box that sits off in the corner if you want though. THis saves a lot of room. You can also get a "free - air" sub that you could mount on the panel right below your rear glass that separates the trunk from the cabin. You would have to rig something as reinforcement though.
