Default Clutch Problems

So everytime I get into the car and push down on the clutch, it's already at the floor. If I pump it for a bit, then the clutch comes back up. Seems to be a little worse when it's colder out.

I'm pretty sure it's either the clutch master cylinder or the slave, however I haven't found any leaks inside the car at this point.

Now, if there is a leak, I'd notice a drop in my brake fluid reservoir correct? Is the reason that the clutch goes back to normal after pumping it a bunch because I am pumping more fluid into the master cylinder or slave? What type of brake fluid is required to refill this so that I can drive it to a shop without getting stuck in gear a little later this week? (if this is the case)

Thanks!

you would have a drop in the fluid in clutch master cyl.......you would use dot3 brake fluid... and more than likely there is air in the system,, hence you having to pump the pedal... usually its the slave cylinder...try pulling the boot back on the slave and see if its wet ....if so replace the slave..... i would probably gravity bleed the system first and then double check for leaks...

One other thing if you do not see a leak it is possable for the seals to go out and not allow pressure to build

Again normal signs that you could have a blown seal. Unless you did work to the system before this problem started there is no way that air got into the system esp if your fluid level hasn't changed. To answer the other part of your 1st question all you need is dot 3 brake fluid to top it of

Do you have a stock clutch line?

I would try and bleed it with a friend, its easy and wouldn't hurt. ^^ check all your seals.. its just a proccess of elimination problem.. find the leaking fluid, or pump out all the air.

good luck!
