Icon2 ...Best Way to Secure your car...

Hi everyone just wanted to know if there are any special ways you all have thought of protecting your pride and joy.

Alarm system, clubs, boots, and etc items.

Are you protected enough?

Post so others can use your great ideas.

Default alarm question

well me personally i have an alarm that is soooo loud that even if someone got into it that the noise would make you leave.....let me explain a little more i hooked up 4 more horns on top of the one in the engine bay with 2 being in the cabin so the potential thief gets there ears blown apart.... and the other two secretly hidden.....
i have heard of lights and such but the best is kill switches cause you can start a car without gas going into the cylinders and other stuff.....
the club does NOT work my father had 3 suburbans stolen with the club on all 3 then he invested in Lowjack and he has not hd any problems with his cars now....

i believe the best things to do to your car is:
1. Invest in a good alarm (Viper, Clifford or an offbrand)
2. Kill switches ( fuel pump, starter, ignition plus many more!)
3. Removable steering wheel is great also but isnt a must
4. LowJack is probably the best tool again theft
anyhow im sure people will pipe in with more answers but in my opinion these are the best for having a thief not want to steal your car...

I personally do the following.

-Clutch Club
-Club to Brake and Steering wheel
-Car cover with lock and Custom Chevy logo on it.
-Boot
-Cable front and rear wheels together
-***Best of all (I have a thick bike cable that I lock the seat to the steering wheel. I slide the seat all the way forward and lock it through the harness holes and through the steering wheel. How can you steal it if you cant sit in it???

PurpleB20B: Do you have a battery backup on the alarm, rerouted hood cable, and stealth-installed brain?

Sleep in your car.

Other then that, loud *** alarm with extra back up battery, some locks, basically layers and layers of security.

Slow the thief down.

I was doing my ex in the backseat of a parking lot in sact0wn when some guys tried to pry my drivers side window. My car had limo tint, so the backseat wasn't visible in the dark. I knocked on the window and they took off.

These guys were so cracked out that they came back after an hour and argued from the sidewalk whether there were people in the car. So we just got dressed and took off.

Thieves are common around my area and when it comes down to protecting my car I go to the extreme. I know its a pain in the *** to lock up everything before night comes but its worth every minute of it.

-Viper Alarm system w/extra siren
-clutch lock
-steering wheel lock
-kill switch
-push start switch w/ignitin botton hidden (So key ignition dont do ****)
-hood pins with a master lock replacing the pin

My list works for me!

Dont forget to park head in. Let me explain... Tow Trucks... From what I hear they are a pretty common way to steal cars where I live. Hitch up the front, bust the glass out, undo the e-brake and go. When you are parked head in you need a flat bed truck and its harder to tow your ***. Just my 2 cents...

Awesome post everyone. Any special ways you can think of. I thought the cable through the seat all the way forward was a good one. Any one off ideas or ways to lock em.

http://www.causeforalarm.thecarthing...on6/index.html

This is good info! I used it to install my alarm. I live on a military base in NJ so I feel blessed. I know off base many people talk about how bad it is with getting their cars stolen. When I moved here I had at least 5 different people tell me "hey nice hatch", "watch it around here". It made me nervous. I don't usually take my car off base, but when I do it is prepared. I still have a few finishing touches on the alarm system but it is pretty solid.

haha yea garage is pretty ill... but ive seen thivees break into them and get wat they want. personally the more security the better, multiple kill switches a clutch lock and wheel lock and a nasty alaram. personally my car has no axles in it which i think is pretty sick lol but also i pull the ecu out for safe keepings... if ur car is in a drivewya and u have multiple cars you could always box it in also.

I also take out the Ghost Plug at night under the hood up by your driver side windshield. Can't start your car with out it. Also the Honda Tuning magazine this month was a great read about protecting your car from thieves.

My last 00 Si was stolen twice. Before it was stolen the first time it had a viper alarm and that was it. They snapped the hood cable and hot wired it and we found it only missing the gauges, radio, and shifter. After that I rerouted the hood cable, made it you had to turn on the parking lights for the starter to work, and got a new alarm system, but don't remember what kind. It was then towed from my house at night (it was hotwired at work, 30 min away) the second time and was totaled.

I bought a new one because I found an awesome deal, and I gave it a Clifford alarm, tilt sensors, a rerouted hood cable, and most importantly this badboy:

What it does is it requires an extra key that plugs into that slot. The guys at Ravelco came to my house and installed it; what he did was he took the wires from the starter, ignition, fuel pump, and ecu, then camouflaged them, put them in one steel cable, and this thing disconnects the circuit so you need a key to connect to right ones. There are dummy pins in there and there are something like over 100,000 combinations, and if you try to guess and connect them without the key supposedly you'll blow a fuse when you hit the wrong one.

Nobody seems to ever of heard of it but it really helps me sleep at night

http://www.ravelco.com/

edit: I also always turn the wheel when I park to hopefully deter non-flatbed trucks from towing it

just an idea i thought of that i know would be a great help. get a section installed inbetween the header and cat with a cut out valve an open it every time you turn off your car. so if someone does try and steal your car your going to hear it. if the valve switch is hidden they would have to drive around with open header and see how quick they get pulled over. just my 2 cents

When I get out of the car for to go in a store I unplug the main relay at night i also remove my battery from my trunk (it has quick release terminal connector thingys) and pull out the ecu thats every night. On nights when I get home early and not being lazy i also lift up the rear seat and unplug the fuel pump just in case they figure out the main rely is unpluged.........or bring their own battery????

that last one is not that often the one other thing I do is remove the license plates and sometimes the front bumber(kit) sice its illegal to drive without a bumper.......might seem a little much but belive it or not I some times get people that walk right up to the car and look it over before I even get in the house!!!! most of the time they pull into the neighbors drive way and watch while I work on it.......

That ^ ravelco^ thing sounds interesting
