is it the same?

are 92-00 civic automatic trannys the same? i have a 98 dx and my tranny is slipping..so i plan on buying a 95 automatic tranny from a friend will it work?

I think different models have different gear ratios..I'm not sure how it will work!

Not true.

All 96-00 Automatic tranmission gear ratio's are the same, Between all models.
Not sure on 92-95, The transmission will work from previous years, Unsure about sensors matching though between ODBI and ODBII

Nope. Physically it will bolt up the block and the chassis. But it will be missing a few solenoids and sensors that will prevent it from actually working. Any '96 - '00 civic automatic transmissione except the HX CVT will work though.
