So I have read a few things on how to wire up my v-tec and i posted in the FAQ thread bu no one responded so i decided to make my own thread. so here is the question.
So i bought my lude with the h22a4 (OBD2) already swapped in, it was originally the non VTEC h23 (OBD1) he put all the old sensors from the old engine onto the new one so he could keep the p14 ecu in... now it ran funny for awhile but now it runs perfectly but without VTEC, i bought the p13 ecu and i thought he hadnt wired the VTEC into the harness yet so i printed out the instructions. he said he put them through the firewall but he hadnt put in the p13. but after i looked at the harness in A4 is the green and orange from the VTEC solenoid and the blue in D6 for the oil pressure switch and i even made a better ground.. so i put in the p13 and the check engine light comes on and the VTEC doesnt work. the car also sputters a little like it did when we first built the car and kept the p14 in... any solutions?
yea if anyone can help me that would be great. i dont know a whole lot about cars and im on my own. so please let me know thanks!

it will be hard for someone to help you diagnose your problems without you providing the CEL codes that are given to you by the car - grab those, and post them to this same thread...
as for the sputtering, make sure you have the correct injectors installed, if you have the injectors from your h23 on your h22a with the p13, it won't like it. I don't know that this is the case, but you said your mech, swapped sensors, is it possible he swapped injectors too? given that obd1 vs. obd2 injectors are different (peak and hold vs. saturated) not to mention h23 vs h22 injectors are different... anyways just a hunch that could be your prob...

yea but the thing is its a p13 from an obd1 prelude.. the p13 is out of a 93 lude..and what are the CEL codes and how do i get them?
just to clear it up if you dont know.. CEL stands for check engine light and to find the code...
""In order for me to help you find that awnser, Ill need to know what Cel codes you are throwing.
Do you know how to pull codes. Its the little blue service connector that dangles behind the stero near the floor. It has 2 wires sticking out it. You use a paper clip to jump the connector and the cel light will blink a code.
1 short blink is 1 1 long blink is 10""
it will help to write the sequence down...

guy installed your new engine, your new engine is an a4, so it would have had obd2 injectors (saturated), your mech would have (possibly) realized this - or had difficulty, so he more than likely swapped in the injectors from your h23 motor that he gutted, this would make them peak and hold obd1 injectors - and they would have worked fine with the p14 ecu, however the flow rates (cc) for them vs. the obd1 injectors the h22a should have are different. with a p13 and h23a injectors you will get sputtering at anything above idle....
it's just my take... because i've experienced it.
as for the connector.. it's as the guy said behind the radio, I access mine from the driver side, but I imagine passenger side access would also be possible.

If you are saying two longs and two shorts - that is 10+10+1+1 = 22.
On a 93 - There is a code 23 for the Knock sensor on the engine, but I don't show a 22 for the engine.
There is a suspension/steering code (20,22,24,28), but I think it comes off of a different controller (the AWS light).

its a obd1 '93 ecu obd2 '00 engine with the obd1 sensors on the and **** from the h23... i think i said that already so sorry if i keep repeating myself...oh and now my cigarette lighter dont work so i cant charge anything, also my rear defrost and the ceiling light dont work, think i blew a fuse or something?
you need to get a mechanic to pull your cel. get the code number and post it on here.
i dont know what 10 10 1 1 means. you have an obd 2 engine with an obd 1 ecu. which sensors did he change? did he mess with the distributor or fuel injectors? did he remove or bypass the resistor box for the injectors? alot of times if the cel comes on the computer goes into a "limp" mode and it will not go into vtec even if it is wired correctly.

im pretty sure he didnt mess with anything he put all the sensors off the h23 onto the h22... he used all the parts from the h23.. im pretty sure.. i cant really ask him cause he is in jail but when i go visit ill ask him
