Electronic Techs: Relaying a Logic Ground, Bad Idea?
I am entertaining the idea of using a few useless CKF wires in my main harness for a remote relay lockout type security.
My question is, if I were to relay (kill) the Logic Ground wires for the ECU could it cause any interference issues (electromagnetic etc...) with sensor inputs?
I'm probably just going to play it safe and use the power grounds.
I'm really more curious than anything...
Thanks
EDITED: That being said, I suppose I should ask if sending 12v through the shielded CKF/CKP/CYP/TDC "harness" to power the relay would cause any problems as well.
Hmm

the length of ground wires matters, making them noticeably longer will likely create very strange problems.
Pumping unfiltered 12V into the shielded harness is not a good idea at all. All though I'm not 100% that the CKF is in the same shielded harness as the rest of the distributor wires.

I would not relay those. Have you considered killing any grounds at the main relay?
Relic1, the extra length would only be the relay itself. Keeping it under the hood where it cannot be accessed is the plan. All the wires are shielded together so I may consider using the extra ground wires instead.
B18EG6, I wanted to keep it out of reach (hood pop is extremely relocated) and hard to bypass. Cutting ground to the ECU remotely seemed to be the best way to try it. I will be using power grounds. All I can do it try it I suppose...
Thanks guys
