Default Help with timing....

My setup
b18c1 block: stressed releaved gsr rods;arp rod bolts
p73 itr pistons
acl bearings
itr water pump and oil pump
rebalanced crank
bored and honed to 81.5mm
97 GSR head with 01 itr cams
Skunk2 intake manifold
itr tb.....

so i rechecked my timing with the timing gun and my tdc mark was way off...i couldnt get it to line up so i drove it around the block with it retarded and i floored it to see how it would run because it seemed to drive fine...it felt really weak so i took it apart to redo my timing..and now my car wont start...re did the timing to many times....need help people....

what timing??? Cam timing or ignition timing??

If your cam timing is in spec, then you should be able to adjust ignition timing to spec if you have the proper parts installed....

align the tdc marks on the cam so that they are level with each other, just becaiuse the up arrows are straight up to you doesn't mean their where their suppose to be. and of couurse make sure the mark is ligned up on the crank. hope this helps

if it's not ignition timing...

take off belt and line up crank line, and tdc lines to point AT EACH OTHER and make sure timing belt tensioner is only finger tight...
there are 5mm pin holes in the cams to put a 5mm pin punch in to keep the cams staright while putting on the belt or else it's almost impossible
put belt on crank pulley, then exhaust cam, intake cam, and then timing belt tensioner and lastly water pump because it spins freely(basically slack is on the intake side)
tighten up the tensioner and rotate the crank counterclockwise unitl it gets very snug, about 3 cam gears...
loosen tensioner and give it a minor wack to loosen the tensioner and tighten down so you can spin the crank and have equal tension

if problem still happens it's your ignition timing that your can adjust with a timing gun and turning your dizzy
or...your not doing something right if your valves arent shot

done almost everything here...still nothing...i tried turning it on yesterday and i got smoke coming from my filter...or below it...and from my manifold i believe....so i have no idea...timing is to good to be messed with anymore...my head hurts...dont know what else could go wrong...

howcome you're only getting 130 psi for your compression??? i did mine yesterday and got 195-200 all the way across....i posted some pictures on my myspace.

so you got fuel pressure, spark and timing is good....... what ecu are you running?
you should try a different ECU and check your wiring connections. i had that problem when i tried to use the itr ecu on my 2000 civic ex. i guess the itr ecu's have what they call an immobilizer on them...

i would say that your battery is shot from cranking it i get 203-213 compression and after a compression test my battery barely starts the car and i just bought it last year...
and i also noticed that you did ALMOST everythign i said in my above post...almost doesn't count when troubleshooting my friend...

wow that doesn't sound good.. did you adjust your valve lash? or maybe the valves are touching the pistons.. timing belt way off?

i fixed it-no bent valves...the part i did wrong was i tensioned the belt twice...it was tight..just not perfect even tension when spinning the crank

Didn't bother to read the rest, haha but put in new spark plugs or brush them off good with a wire brush. They could may have fouled if you weren't running good.

tried two different batteries...still nothing..have fuel and spark in all cylinders....might have to adjust timing again..but this will be my 30th time or so
