Default Too much oil in a 95 del sol

Had my 95 del sol sohc vtec for a few months. I took it to a "honda specialist" to simply get the oil changed because I can't work on my car where I live right now. I noticed yesterday when I parked the car after driving 150ish miles ion the highway that I could smell burning oil really bad. When I popped the hood there was as very decent amount of smoke coming from under the intake manifold (the exhaust is right down there as well). This morning I check the oil and the dip stick is showing 2-3 inches more oil in the engine than there should be (aka 2-3 inches above the top hole on the dip stick, and yes the car hadn't been started yet).

I get to their shop and they drain 2 quarts of oil out, wipe everything down and tell me I'm good to go now. However after driving it around a while to test it, it is still happening. I did notice when they took me back to my car to show me that there was no oil leaking from the filter or the pain/plug. But somehow the oil had gone a good 2-3 feet down my exhaust. It also seemed that the leak was coming from higher up than the filter.

After stopping a few times it seems that the car will smoke right from under the intake maninfold/off the exhaust for about a minute until the car cools down some. But this leads me to believe that oil is spraying from somewhere only when I accelerate/give it gas. Although I couldnt' get it to smoke when pushing the throttle from under the hood.

Any ideas? I'm heading back up there soon to be an ******* and get them to fix it.

Sounds like the double gasketed the filter.

This is why I don't take my car to half-rate greasemonkeys.

Way too much oil in and it's leaking elsewhere? Not good for your main seals.

Could be worse. My manager used to have a 454 an old Woody that had so many (beaten on) miles ... the cam wore down to the point it wouldn't open the valves. The manifold would fill with gasoline within about 45 seconds of run-time and spill out of the carb.

Believe me, I don't if I can help it. But there's some bogus rule around here that you can't work on your car in the parking lot.

I mean, how the hell hard can it be to [freak] up an oil change??? Jesus Christ

But I'm still looking for suggestions on what it could be... I don't trust the to figure it out. I wouldn't take it back to them except they'll fix it for free... or they'd better.

heres what I would do...check to make sure you have proper oil amount on your dipstick. Then get underneath your car with a clean rag and wipe any oil you may see. I would then start car and look underneath for any oil leakage. What might have happened was that these dipshits could have spilled a lil oil which pooled up somewhere and is burning off when your car heats up. If thats the case then it will eventually burn off. OR..when they removed the old oil filter the gasket did not come off with it, so when they put the new filter on, you actually would have 2 gaskets behind the new filter. This will certainly create a nice leak. If you get under your car and start wiping...you should be able to see if there is indeed a leak. and geting under your car is not really "working" on your car

Having too much oil could have well put too much stress on a gasket/seal or two.

Get some engine cleaner/degreaser and clean it off to check where it is leaking as stated above.
