Default tach acting crazy... whats happening?

so the past couple days when im driving ive noticed that sometimes my tach needle jumps up and down very fast about 200-300 rpms. it will do it for a second and then stop. i dont hear the engine revving any higher its just the tach jumping. ive owned the car for about a year and a half (del sol with a d16z6 175k) and its never done this before... any idea whats goin on? thanks in advance for the help.

Check your spedo sensor. I've had an ls and my z6 do that. The one with the ls I forgot to plus the cable back in lol and my z6 had coolant leaking on it. So just see if its loose or something

It's more than likely your coil. I'd check the connectors for the ignition module also. Make sure they're not loose/corroded...

9 times out of 10 your tach jumping randomly is your ignition module going bad, check the connectors on it. if theres no problem there replace the ignition module or the whole dizzy whatever is cheaper

I would be looking into the speedo head.

now that u metion the ignition, id have to say that about a week ago i parked my car at the bank... went inside for 3 min and then came back out... turned the key... and nothing. made no attept to start whatsoever (like not having a battery connected at all) tried it 2 or 3 times and nothing. then i let the e-brake down and drifted back a couple feet and tried it again and it started like normal. i then noticed the clock had set itself back to 12 which made me think the cables on my batt were lose but they were fine... could this have just been an ignition problem and also be linked with my tach situation?
