Yes it will work. Been running y7/z6 for about six years.

this might help...its practically the same thing.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by nub &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Yes it will work. Been running y7/z6 for about six years.</TD></TR></TABLE>

you should do another one and make a writeup...there isnt one in the faqs for the z6 head on a y7 block.

Really there isnt much to it detail wise. All head botls are y7 except the left rear corner by the vtec solenoid, that one is z6 (longer). Y7 diz doesnt bolt up, I modified the hold down tabs on mine to make it work or you could put the y7 internals in a z6 diz. Wire up vtec solenoid, preasure switch and if your going to run a p2p youll need to add a knock sensor, the location in the block is already threaded. The rest come down to what ecu, p28 or p2p. The easiest is the p28. With the p2p youll get a code for gas tank preasure sensor which is only on the ex model. I've heard of several ways around this but none of them worked for me. There are a couple other very minor things like the y7 has a three wire iacv and both the p2p and p28 use a two wire. Thats all that comes to mind at the moment, fairlt staight forward. Time for a brew, lates

wouldn't it be easier to use a harness for the z6 disto to work with the wiring harness?

No gains over a straight Z6 or Y8 "single jingle"... there is no benefit to a mini-me... just a way to build cheaply and with the parts on hand.
