Default d16z6 head on a y8 block?

does a D16z6 head work on a D16y8 block? I thought i heard that there was valve clearance problems, and that the only hybrid that would work would be a y8 head on a z6 block.

any help?

No, the z6 head has a larger combustion chamber than a y8 head (34.6cc vs 32.8cc), all it is going to do is lower the compression, and the z6 intake/exhaust ports are smaller as well.
