Check the TPS and MAP sensor, they're probably reversed.

i checked a picture of before and the tps and map sensor were backwards...but imediately after switching those i noticed that two of the fuel injectors were leaking. so now im stuck finding a o ring kit and firing it back up to test drive it.

One other thing though, i got a p73 (type r) ecu and it's not working. if an ecu is bad, does it not do anything period? cause mine turns over, it just doesn't fire. any ideas? thanks much.

what code is it throwing?
It should throw a code even if the ecu is bad

I'm sure those reversed plugs were part of your problem, i've done the same thing in the past. Get your injector's sorted out and try again.

Each case of a bad ECU is different, does the car run fine with the OEM ecu, and not at all with the ITR ECU?

If your engine is not built with OEM ITR parts, I would not run that ECU. You need something to adjust the vtec engagement at least, just get a socketed P28 and have somebody tune it on crome.

the car will not start with the p73. i've talked to a few people who had gsr's who did the manifold and put a p73 in it and they said it totally woke up the car. but i'm scared i bought a scam. there's no real way to screw up pluggin in an ecu. lol

i have a p73 and it works great. my engine is extremely similar to an ITR though. crower 401 cams 10:8-1 compression and a blox manifold. have you checked your TPS sensor and verified voltage is correct and also have you double checked ignition timing?

Thats your problem..

00-01 have the immobilizer. You will need to have it removed, or find an older ECU. Search here on HT, there are ways around it.

i searchd on how to remove it and it's 3 page articles talking about stealing type r's. saying why should they say how to remove it cause it's prolly stolen blah blah. or someone saying pay 100 bucks and i'll tell ya how. i bought it off ebay, i'll admit. haha. but i guess i'm just going to sell it and buy either an older one or a p28. it'll be a few days until i get the injector gasket kit so i will let everyone know how it works out. thanks for the help guys!
