Vtec checklist.
I have an 01 GSR, my vtec isnt working. Can anyone tell me what are the things to check for when checking why vtec doesnt work. My speedometer isnt working either, does that affect it at all?
K but my RPM's, gas, engine temp gauge are all working. Its just the Speed, the MPHs that doent work. Im gonna try an fix that now, if that doesnt do it wat else do i look for? Is there a complete list of things or what?
It will be the speed, ecu checks:
engine temp
speed
oil pressure (some ecus)
rpm
Had the speedo cable come out on my car while I was racing. That was fun no more vtec.
When you get your speedo working if it still doesn't work check oil level and thats its clean.
Then run a wire to the solinoid with a led/light grounded. The led should light up when your going fast enough and your cars warmed up.
Run the cable to the inside of your car or jack it up and test on the spot.
If the light comes on but vtec doesn't engage then it will be your solenoid or oil is too dirty to engage it.
If it doesnt your going to have problems trying to track it down. Try all those then post back so I dont have to list every other problem it could be.
