"its argon gaz we use thats the only way you can weld aluminium.
the endtanks are thin sheet aluminium and heat up quick when you weld them but when installed on your car cool offf extremely faster than cast endtanks
this endtanks are better for performance if you want it to look good you need to use cast aluminium endtanks witch are thicker cost a lot more $$$$ but they keep the heat in the material which in my opinion is usless when buy a heat exchanger "intercooler"
you get it to cool off the hot air from the turbo. "

Yes, you need an argon cover gas to TIG weld aluminum.
Yes, thin aluminum heats up quickly and is hard to weld.
Yes, aluminum cools faster than cast since it is thinner and cannot hold as much heat.
Yes, cast endtanks can look "cooler", can be extrude honed and will smooth the airflow better, but they are $$$.

He was definatly right, no one said alum. is easy to weld ESPECIALLY alum. that thin. Its just his lines (beads) arn't straight. His penetration is good and on the picture you showed us, he never burned through. Tell him to setup a rolling jig already!
