Default Bad gas?

Gasoline. Not the other kind. My car's been sitting for a year or so. Just finished a swap in it to get it running again. It cranked one time, ran poorly for 5 seconds, and died. Friend of mine suggested that the gas might be bad since it's been sitting so long. This sound plausible?

Gas goes bad. If it sits for a period of time without running, you are suppose to completly drain the fuel system.

Wow. Learn something everyday.. So.. in theory.. adding "fresh" gasoline and octane booster should at least help it start?

Because draining now would be pointless since the old gas has already been run to the motor

yeah just add a bottle of octane booster, fuel injector cleaner, start it up and drive to a chevron and get the best stuff. (yes chevron's gas is better than the beeb down the street) and burn that tank pretty much to E.
