H.I.D messing up my Radio??
Whenever i turn my lights on my radio gets staticy idk how thats happening, but i just put in H.I.D yesterday and so i'm guessing that has something to do with it. anyone have any ideas? thanks.
do u only hear static on the radio or when you play cds also?
is it factory radio? or aftermarket with amps?
where did you mount the ballast's? did u use relays when you hooked them up?

me and my friend both have ej8's and we both have hids..and we have almost the same pioneer head units..he gets static and i dont..i have a relay he doesnt..also i made sure non of my hid wires were touching any other wires... so i would go ahead and make sure none of ur hid wires are touching any other wires.
i have this problem as well, and i didn't use relays. i imagine if i hooked up some basic 12v relays and let the lights get their power directly from the battery, rather than through the headlight harness, then maybe it would clear up the static issue.

well my thought was if there wasnt relays then it was drawing power from a source that shouldnt have that much current on it. which is why you would use a relay, but since you have them then check your grounds at the HIDs and the radio. may even run a new ground off the radio harness to the chassis. and if you have an amp on your highs then check that ground too
oh yea and if u already have the radio out and u check all the grounds and it still happens, you can try to ground the case of the headunit because with most radios thats where the antenna grounds, or wrap a peice of wire around the outside of the antenna connector on the metal peice and touch it to the chassis.
i was playing around with my car today actually check the connection of where the outside anteena connects to the inside of the car i kept grounding off mine n the static would clear up.
