i have had the Philips kit in my R for about a 1 1/2 years, and all of a sudden on friday, one of the lights started to flicker, turn on and off when they wanted too.

so today(monday) i looked at them checking the wires, and i turned the lights on and....
a small flame started from the side of the balist... i blew it out and dissconected everything, and looked at where the fire started and the wire was cut an touching the other wire.

I was wondering if i could cut the wires and resoder them back together?

any one else have a simalar prob?

Re: HID problems (Blazin ITR)
it just sounds like the positive and negative wires contacted each other, hence the spark. i think you should re-insulate the wires, and make sure nothing is exposed before using it again.

Re: HID problems (TypRice)
So the wires shorted out externally, not internally within the ballast? Why didn't the fuse blow first?
