Default turbo help =]

i know you guys hear the same old story every time but i need your help cause i dont want to blow my motor, so i just rebuild my motor for boost on stock sleeves, not smart i know but they were in prefect condition. so i'm gonna be running a top mount, and before i buy it i need to figure out what turbo i wanna run and what size charge piping to run 2.5 or 3 is another question. i've been looking at the s256. cause i heard it has a quick spool for a street. i'm looking for about 400-450 on 91 octane

my motor
cp pistons 9.1
eagle rods
acl bearings
ported head
4 valve job
supertech springs, retainers, valves
victor x manifold
68mm t/b
1000cc injectors
255 fuel pump

thanks!

gt3076r or 35r or the brog warner series. All great options for the power you're looking for.

SC50 or SC34 are both very quick spoolin turbos would should be able to make 400 whp and i'd say go with 3 inch piping so you'll never have to worry about the piping restricting flow when your making a lot of boost and that kinda power

Go with at least the S256. You can dump race fuel in it and see 550hp for track days

The S256 will make the power you're looking for. It will break the 400whp mark on 91 octane and easily make 450whp. I'm also using the S256 .70ar on my setup. I haven't tuned it yet, but it should easily make the power i want. Here's a link to the S256 testing done here in Fargo by SLS.

Those two turbos are going to have a hard time making 400whp on 91 octane. They're good choices, but fall short of his needs

yeah i read that already, thats what is making me go towards the s256, but what about the piping? i heard if i go with 3in i going to have more turbo lag but would be able to hold more boost? and i'm talking about intercooler piping not my exhaust btw lol

Going 3" will leave you will less restriction for producing more HP with the sacrifice of a pressure drop (spool time). If you want big numbers there isn't much of an option.

That's about what I'm shooting for and I'll be using 3".

i got a pm, dose everyone agree

I also recommend NOT using a Top Mount with this turbo. It will hurt your responsiveness. Yes, topmounts have more CFM VOLUME, but slow the backpressure and energy that is what makes turbos "spool" more responsively.

Everyone still loves Garrett, but the BW population is here, very prideful and will never go back to a Garrett. There is no comparison. Get the S258 if you want serious power. It spools close to a S256 with a little more flow. Not to mention BW turbos are rebuildable Don't forget to get the extended tip version! Good luck!

Yes, otherwise I wouldn't have stated it.

Here's an example of the difference in the Topmount vs. an equal length shorty. Same engine Same turbo, same exhaust, etc. Only difference was the manifold
