I have a h23a vtec, the actual motor from the 2001 accord sir. It comes with the 62mm but it is sticking real bad and my tps is out so I am buying new throttle body and tps. What size can i get up to? I dunno how big I can go without causing problems.

 

If you're not into wasting money, you could just get another TPS, and use some carb clean to stop the sticking.

If the throttle plate stopper adjustment is off (too tight), it can also cause sticking. It's a set screw with a lock nut that rests against the throttle cam. So clean first, then check adjustment.

 

I've heard very little on H22/23's and throtte bodies. My basic knowlege is that TB size is determined by plenum volume. The bigger the plenum the smaller the TB and vise versa...

I'd do what they said^ for now. Then if you want to upgrade, I'd get a Euro R manifold and a bigger TB to go with it.

Did you look at the link I posted?

The euro r manifold isn't worth the $$, pick up a used skunk2 if you're going to change it. A bigger tb on the stock manifold does almost no good at all, but a 70mm showed gains on the skunk2. IMO there are more effective ($$/hp) things to spend $$ on anyways.

No I didn't bother reading the link sence I assumed it was related to cleaning the TB.

Whether you love it or not, the one that makes more power, makes more sense to own. Feeling good about a bad purchase is more important in the end though.

 

[freak]ing hate those 62mm throttle bodies. I just had one get sticky as hell. Turns out the backup spring underneath the TPS was breaking into little pieces and jamming the thing open.

Take the TPS off, check that spring-- if it's in pieces, rip that **** out and put your 62mm throttle back in. I make 230 WHP on a 62mm TB, it's enough for most NA builds.
