Hey everyone, as the title states...i need to know if the ECU harness(the one that plugs the engine harness into the ECU) from a 96 LX 4dr will work in my 97 EX 2dr w/ a B18b1?? I wasn't sure if since they were both OBD2a it would work, or not. Someone chime in please! I'm trying to pick up this harness today! Thanks in advance to the Honda gurus on here!

Cool, wasn't sure cuz the LX is non-vtec and the EX is vtec, if everything would work right. Sweet, picking one up today!
Thanks.
Thanks.

wait.. make sure that ecu can support vtec... otherwise you'll have to add the wire to the plug in the ecu.

I went to pull it out, but this car has a 1 piece harness...it looks like mine is a 2 piece harness. One harness wraps around the engine, then the other plugs that one into the ECU. Am I crazy?
ya it will definitely fit. I have a 96 LX auto ecu in my 97 ex auto coupe (idk how that **** got in there) and the car runs (it just sucks because the ECU sucks). I'm getting the proper ECU this week so that my car runs properly until i get my swap. But either way yes it works.
well if the ECU works and fits on the harness then the harness has to be the same otherwise it wouldnt drive the car?
*Any* '96 - '98 civic harness will physically fit and work in any '96 - '98 civic. Any '99 - '00 civic harness will physically fit and work in any '99 - '00 civic, except the HX which remained OBD2A for its entire production run. You will need to preform the IACV fix in your case unless you run a '96 - '98 civic EX manual harness.

what is the IACV fix?
Is that the Idle Air Control Valve? But what is the fix?

Yes its the idle air control valve. '96 - '00 Civic CX, DX and Automatic EX models use a 3 wire IACV. '96 - '00 Civic manual EXs and all '94 - '01 Integras use a 2 Wire IACV. The "fix" basically converts the harness to use the 2 wire setup.
