D16Z6 Head on D16Y7 Block

Default D16Z6 Head on D16Y7 Block

Today i bought a complete D16Z6 head and i will be doing my mini me very soon on my D16Y7(98 civic) and i just wanted to get everything straight. Ive made a list of everything i think i need and i would like to know if i need anything else before i start. Thanks


D16Z6 head
Y8 manifold
Y8 tb cable
LS Throttle body
Tb thermal gasket
IM thermal gasket
Y8 head gasket
Y7/Z6 arp head studs
Valve cover gasket set
dizzy gasket
OBD2-OBD1 jumper
P28 ecu
misc hoses
Z6 timing belt
Y7 fuel rail/injectors

What else do i need to do to change to OBD1?

For the head bolts/studs, you need 9 for the Y7 block and 1 for the Z6. The 1 for the Z6 goes by the vtec solenoid. Otherwise the head won't seal properly to the block.

You're going to need to do something about the distributor. Using the Z6 distributor and either rewiring the engine harness' plug, or getting a distributor adapter harness.

i have the right studs already and i have 2 dizzys, 1 dizzy with an adapter and my Y7 dizzy.

sorry to hijack the thread but whats the hp difference in the ls throttle body? did some searching but only came up in 1 result that didn't answer my question.

I like this. I planed on doing this on my B7. let me know if all the work pays off with more power or is it a waste of time.

i have no idea, i just have one laying around thats why im using it. i think an LS tb is 58mm

I was told that I need a z6 crank pulley for correct timing, is this true?
