Had a broken rod that slapped around a bit and have small chunks missing from the cylinder wall of cyl #4. can it be honed and reused or does it have to be sleeved? i dont think the piston goes down that far so would it matter? here are the pics:

Look at it this way: When you put the larger H-beam rods in, you have less of the block to notch
It's kind of hard to tell from the pics how bad it is. If you ask the person rebuilding it, they should be able to tell you if the sleeves are toast.

lol about the h-beams. it doesnt look to bad really. Im not rebuilding it now, i was just curious to see it was even possible without hauling it over to a machine shop....
If you can catch your fingernail in any spot on the actual sleeve,
you will most likely need to get it bored out, or sleeved depending on how bad it is.

It'll be fine, look what they do here to the block about mid way down the page

If that part can be smoothed down, then it might not need anything over the top.
How are the actual sleeves higher up where the piston will be making most of the contact?

ya i will be taking it to a machine shop to see what they would say, i just wanted to get an idea. the sleeves up top are not bad at all, looks like it would just have to be honed, they are not all scratched up at all.
