A/C Question. been to a shop. searched. FULL RECHARGE AND NO COLD AIR
95 civic d15
. i went and got a free a/c checkup and they told me that i was a little low on freon
. i got a recharge kit and released all the pressure and refilled it exactly how the can said to. it took about 45 seconds and it was full. no cold aircoming out of the vents
. i tried three times
. does it need a lot of time to get cool? DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS/ COULD BE?
THANKS

I'm sorry, but please leave it to experienced personell to work on your car, especially if you have no idea what you're doing
^^^ I agree...I'm a licensed a/c tech and if you don't know what you are doing you can get hurt.
My question to you is if the repair facility said it was low on a charge why didn't you just let them charge it? R134a isn't all that pricey and a recharge can't be all that expensive.
BTW how much r134a did you put in your system?...Do you know where your system is leaking from?..systems don't just lose freon naturally..if your charge was low you have a leak...did they dye test it?
Please don't just "release" freon into the atmosphere thats just dumb and in some states I think illegal.

i didnt buy freon from them because i didnt think i was going to do it at the time because of money. i filled until it was at the right psi according to the gauge that came with the kit. the shop did not do a leak test so i dont know if it is leaking.
I JUST WANT TO KNOW IF ANYONE KNOWS WHAT MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM. I AM GOING TO TAKE IT TO THE SHOP SINCE THAT IS ABOUT AS FAR AS I'M GOING WITH MY A/C. I WAS JUST LOOKING FOR AN HONEST ANSWER TO COMPARE TO WHAT PEOPLE AT A SHOP WILL TELL ME. THAT IS ALL I WAS LOOKING FOR.
THANKS FOR THE INSIGHT I'LL TRY NOT TO DO ANYMORE DUMB THINGS

ok i went and got another "free check" at another shop and they told me that i was leaking freon and i'm guessing it must be pretty bad because it was full yesterday and today it was a pound and a half low. they told me it would be $150 to dye test it, vacum the system and charge it with a one year warranty. does that sound about right, price wise.
is there any common leaks spots for hondas. he didnt say that they would be replacing the drier. i thought that it was a must if you have a bad leak because there is moisture in the system that will ruin the drier.
thanks for all of the help. i have researched a lot on this topic but there isnt much information on it and everyone usually says just leave it to the pros, but i would like to learn as much as i can about my car and thats why i became a member of this forum.
THANKS

No you don't "have to" replace the dryer on a leaker..It's only a must if the system in question was open to the atmosphere for a period of time.
Umm..so $150 they dye test, charge it and say bye bye?...what about the leak?
they should fix the leak, dye test, and charge it for $150.
Also if you pay them for a dye test they're supposed to tell you where it leaks from.lol
If the leak fix is included $150 is fair.
