new engine + break in period

Default new engine + break in period

ive got a built y7 vitara/eagle setup with skunk2 z6 head. nihad on here told me to slam on the turbo right away. is that a good idea or should i break in the engine atleast 500 miles?

break it in with boost, thats what the motor was built for, why pay for tuning twice?

this is how I did mine, and it worked perfect, but everyone has their own personal break in procedure, but this is the general idea

go to your tuner, have him make u a basemap for your setup (I like to put in some cheap non synthetic oil for this part), then just fire it up in garage for a couple min, check for leaks, shut it down, take it straight to tuner, towing it there is the best bet, have him break it in on dyno, and give it a good tune, then take it home change oil,(again I use the cheap stuff for this part) run it for a few hundred miles or so, then put in whatever your favorite brand of synthetic oil is, and u should be set for miles and miles of boosted fun.

You just never know how the car is running by putting everything together and driving for 500 miles. It could be really lean or really rich. Invest in a wideband and install it permanently in the car. I am always keeping an eye on it!
