Default Oil leak from oil filter area '93 Accord

I'm getting a leak from the oil filter housing area. Not sure what it is? Not the oil filter. I replaced that 2 times already. 1 time with OEM filter.

If the hollow oil filter stud came out with the oil filter then you are going to have to use a band wrench to get it tight ( happened to me before ). Check to make sure that there is not 2 gaskets on the oil filter. Also the oil pressure sending unit is directly above the filter, inspect it for leakage.

No stud came out. I'll double check for the 2 oil filter gasket.

check to see if oil is coming from above the oil filter area. If so it could be your sending unit, seems to be a somewhat common thing when you get oil leaking around the filter area.

I had the same problem on my '92 Accord. The oil appeared to be leaking from the oil filter area. It would get on the exhaust area below it, heat up and have this burning smell (almost like the brakes were burning) in addition to generating smoke from underneath the car. It was pretty embarrassing to stop at a stop light...

I thought maybe it was the oil filter o ring, but when I took it in to a specialized car shop that does repairs only on Hondas, Toyotas and Acuras, they diagnosed it as a bad oil sending unit. It cost me about $70 bucks to replace it from them (including labor). I've been oil-leak free since.

Same here on my 90 and 93. Likely the sending unit itself, not the threads. The oil actually leaks through the unit. Easy replacement, take the filter off to give you better access, if I remember correctly, it has a hex so you can use a socket.

What was the size of the socket, do you remember?
Having leaks from there, would there be big leaks or small leaks? I am getting a little leak every morning before starting the car. During the day, it would be dry but later on, once I get home, there more leaks, bigger ones.
This occurs after I replace my valve cover gasket.
Also last year, the distributor was leaking, so I got gaskets changed, change the valve then also. After a few days, there was tiny leaks, then I cleaned the car under and it's been dried until my recent valve cover gasket change.
My question is, I spray some carb cleaner on the top of the engine, would the leaks be residue from the spray. Mine this occurs a week after I change the valve cover gasket.
Thanks.
