irritated with oil leak.
ok so 2 weekends i did a oil change and dis. o ring change. o ring stopped leaking and the oil filter started leaking. so i tightened a lil bit more by hand and it didnt stop. So i thot maybe i bought a bad oil filter (STP). So i bought another oil filter by wix this time this last saturday. I Put it on and checked for leaks and didnt see any leaks so i thot 2 days later it still leaks. What am i doin wrong here? i clean the oil filter area and lube the oring on filter. ugh any help would be alot right now. James

Re: irratated with oil leak.
A common problem is that the rubber seal for the old filter comes off during removal and the resulting double seal (old + new) causes the new filter to leak oil.

Do you have an oil cooler/heater installed? I didn't even know they existed until mine started leaking. It goes between the filter and the block, and will have coolant lines running to it. There's a big o ring between it and the block... about $4 from the dealer.
