Default just did a swap.. help appreciated

i own a 93 civic lx i swaped in my a6 because the old d15b7 blew. i changed the timing belt, belt tensioner, water pump, cap n rotor and some ngk's. engine started but it idles pretty damn bad.. 1k rpms to 3k and it keeps going up an down. i hear a clicking sound when the engine is running,. i checked the compression an it reads 145 145 145 150. any suggestions would be appreciated

check for major vaccum leaks. pull of your iacv and clean it out with brake/carb cleaner. the engine's old so you should probably replace the seal in there too. its only about $4 at any honda/acura dealer.

compression seems to be a little low, I would double check the timing. Also check for vacuum leaks and fitv performance.

the a6 doesnt have a fitv lol. as far as compression readings. how many revolutions did you crank it over. i believe you're supposed to do it about 5-7 times. if you did so less than 5 full revolutions that may explain why the reading is low.

oops my bad, did not know. just know that every time I hear about a bouncing idle, that is usually the culprit

i did crank it more than 5-7 times and it still reads 150 all across. but would torquing the head more raise the compression in the cylinders? i changed the headgasket and torqued it down to 45ft pounds

I am not sure what the a6 is for but if it is a b16 then the torque on the head should have been in two steps 1. 22ftlbs 2. 61ftlbs. it could be that the head is not all the way torque down. hopefully nothing was warped by driving it with the head not all the way down. that is if it is a b16. if it was a d16z6 then it would have been 1.22ftlbs 2. 53ftlbs.

im going to check if theres any vacuum leaks with a vacuum pump and torque down the head to 55ft and hopefully it resolves the problem

should be around 190. trq sequence for the d16a6 is as follows

Tighten cylinder head bolts in four steps in the sequence shown:
1) Tighten all 10 bolts to 20 Nm (14 lb-ft)
2) Tighten all 10 bolts to 49 Nm (36 lb-ft)
3)Tighten all 10 bolts to 67 Nm (49 lb-ft)
4) Tighten bolts 1 & 2 to 67 Nm (49 lb-ft)

i retorqued the head to 55tq while it was hot. the firing order is right and compression test reads 165 200 165 165. i checked the spark plugs and cylinders 2,3 are oily and others are white. car is running on 2 cylinders and i dont know why middle cylinders are not firing on time. any suggestions?

Did you adjust the valve lash?..if you didn't that can explain a lot.
Set the valve lash and retry,I'll bet it helps...I am saying this because you stated you heard a clicking noise..hope that helps ya.

you said you torqued it to 45, so you didn't follow the proper torque order?
