Ground clearance issue
I rarely post on here, but I am in need of help. I have tried searching but I don't know where to look.
First off my car is a 93 lx 10th aniversary edition.
I don't know how many of you would know what I am talking about but here it goes. I am lowering my car, or I should say I did lower my car. But ran into a problem. There is a some sort of beam that bolts to the core support (right in the middle of it) and goes back to the fire wall, well it drags on the ground when I brake and go over bump. How necessary is it to have that on. On 90-91 da's it's the same thing. But my 92 gsr didn't have it. Weird thing was the rest of the front clip was exactly the same as the earlier models, and it handled fine with out one.
My question is can I remove it with out any severe effects. I rather remove it and raise the car a little. Then keep it and raise the car a **** ton. car is a daily and does not get beat on. So it's not like I am putting a lot of stress on it.
Thanks for any help.

if your talking about what i think your talking about it runs right under the motor and as i recall has an exaust mounting point on it and it gaurds the bottom of the motor from getting beat up on a bottom out
yeah that is it. I asked a buddy of mine who is a tech at a acura dealer, he owns two 91 da's which he hard parks like a ****, but he told me that he took off that beam on both of them. He has been driving them both for a year like that. You can't even get your foot under his bumper, and he hasn't had any problem scraping the oil pan.
I'll give it a try and if it scraps the oil pan on anything I'll put it back on.
I did raise the car about an inch today and that already helps. It only scraps going in and out of my drive way.

The part you are referring to is known as the center beam. It is the front jack point and it acts as a skid plate to protect your engine and exhaust.

What type of setup do you have for suspension.? Coil overs, drop springs and aftermarket shocks or drop springs & stock shocks?????
I think by the time you realize that you scraped the oil pan and crushed the down pipe by going over a bump. You'll have to put back more than just the center cross member. I think you may be looking at replacing your down pipe, oil pan and then putting the center beam back on. I've seen it more than once.
Yes I know that it's cool to have your car so low you can't drive it anywhere. My suggestion would be to bag it if you like it that low. Then you won't end up like the douche bags that go through 4 oil pans and drop 25+ liters of oil on public roads a year.....
