Default vss problem. code 17.

Ok honda tech, i have gone through a lot a bullshit at the dealership lately. I dont have the space nor the time to do repairs on my own. First off they told me rear main was leaking and clutch was covered in oil so that too had to be replaced. okay 1200 for that. after they put it all back together they finally notice the tranny leaking which is the reason it went into the shop in the first place. 700 dollars.

Now my speedo doesnt work and i am getting cel code 17 which is vss. so i went to the dealership and took the one off the old tranny installed it on the new one. Still no fix. Car seems to want to stall on my at idle now as well but only when cel is on.

Any ideas what can be causing this and how to fix before they try and rape me over the coals again? Car has appointment thursday morning and i am refusing to spend a nother penny in the shop there. Just want them to fix it. But if it is an easy fix then i will do it my self.

Car is a 94 cx with a jdm d15b and s20 tranny.

Thanks guys.

dealer ship did all the install on tranny which came with a vss and told me it was good to go.

I installed the old vss off the busted tranny today after i got the cel and everything. But made no difference

did you reset the cel? does your speedo work? have you checked the vss fuse? if you've done all that then you might need a new vss plug that's what happened to me. tried everything and nothing worked. but then I decided to try replacing plug and walla......fixed.

where is the fuse located? i was unable to find out. the plug looks fine, appears to be almost brand new.

To reset the cel you just take out the ecu fuse or disconnect the battery correct?

yeah but for like a minute. And as for the fuse its located under the dash. go to the Faqs here on HT and look for the fuse diagram so you can see which one it is. G/L
