Engine Heat...???--Smog Test
Last week my brother took his 94 GSR in for a smog check and he didn't pass.... there are 3 tests and he pass 2, but not the important one--the emissions... he took the car back a couple of days ago and the mechanic said that it had to do something with his pistons and what not.... and something about the cooling system or radiator not pushing coolant through the motor... and his engine bay is usually hot after a drive.... I know all engines get hot, but his is really hot, but his temp gauge is normal though... I need help... I can scan the emission tests results if someone can help....
Huh? Pistons? Not enough coolant through the radiator/engine block? Time for a new mechanic, he probably meant the cat was not hot enough.
I cant tell by not looking at the specs but have your brother run the hell out of his car right before he goes in again.

I understand that part of it though... where you run the car first before taking it in.. and that's what my brother did the second time around... he took it on the freeway before taking it back and that's when the mechanic told him that stuff... and telling him that it'll cost around $150 for him to diagnose the problem... but I'll scan his emissions test and post it up soon.... and by the way... are you a mechanic of some sort...??? Just curious.... just wanna get a sense of what's going on here with his car.... thanks...
