friend got a battery placed it against my car >=(
we heard that if u get a car battery place it on any part of the car it will short ciruct the electrical and cut the alarm off. Well we tried and it did so, it blew all my car fuses out along w/ my alarm fuse and left to electrical burn marks on the panel...
all the money i have poured into my car to be safe and all a thief has to do is get a car abttery to duefuse everything....

?? that seems strange, if you short a battery out on your car current will flow in a path of least resistance terminal to terminal, it wont flow all over the car or through switches that are turned off to blow all your fuses

You say it blew all the car fuses? I agree the current will flow from terminal to terminal and agree with the fact that current will flow more through the least resistant path but in this case I think the car electrical system poses a much higher resistant path and HOW IN HELL could it blow out all your fuses if most of the items in the car are an open circuit!? I can't imagine this being possible.
fuse and diode isolate the alarm relays such as any flashing light, siren, battery etc. etc, then install a backup battery module for the alarm and you'll be ok.
If a theif tries to do this, the fuses and diodes will still protect the alarm and the backup battery will keep it running.
-Rage (p.s there MUST have been a safer way for you to try this expirement!!)

you LET him experiment w/ your whole car/electrical system? or was it an accident the battery touched your car? Lolz that sux... I guess this is what Teken means by Shunt regulating...
ouch burn mark on the panel? Lolz.. ur friend going to pay for that ish? or did u guys plan this little experiment?

you have a 2 ohm load and a 4 ohm load wired in parallel. the current will travel through both not just the 2 ohm load which has less resistance.
I'm still calling BS on this one, last time I shorted my battery out to the chasie(
) it didn't do anything. it sparked on the screwdriver and made me feel like a dumba$$ but no fuses or anything went.Maybe something else happened, but the battery just wouldnt do it
Didn't want to call it BS but that's what I think too. Posts like this remind me there might be bad guys among us...(*Paranoid neck jurk to look behind*)
let's hear some stories teken!

Hey Teken I don't know if you have talked about this but could you suggest ways to protect our alarms from the method you mentioned that disables them?
