Default Dead Back-up Battery?

I dunno what happened.. but i think the back-up battery is dead

Recently i was on vacation for 1 week, my alarm still chirped, but the car didn't start.. the car battery was still powering the alarm, sorta...

Then after i jumped the car, and charged the battery.. the next day.. i left my lights on... that killed the battery completely... and when i went to disarm the alarm.... the pager just went off - telling me that it couldn't get a response...

Once i got public safety at my campus to give me a jump, i was able to disarm the car again..

i guess to find out i need to disconnect my battery and try to arm/disarm the car...haven't done that...

but i was wondering how long the backup battery needs to fully charge again? Cause i know its supposed to be isolated from the rest of the car's electronics... or at least that is how i wired it...

Default Re: Dead Back-up Battery? (bpr0422)

If the car battery goes flat dead. It will kill the back up battery after a couple hours. If it one on those flea bay units. I seen them toss a charge or never charge up after a install. I try to charge them on my tech bench, then install the unit. after the install. I let the car run for 15 min and its good to go.
