Default Leaky clutch master cylinder problem. need advice.

So I'm finally getting the chance to buy an s2000! I've wanted one for so long, I finally find the one I want, berlina black, lowered with tein coilovers, has te-37 volks, comptech airbox, tein hood dampeners, comes with a free ipod that hooks up to the car's stereo. So anyways I get down there to test drive it and the only thing I notice is the clutch doesn't feel right. He showed me a receit for having it fixed, $1600 at a honda dealership in town. After inspecting the car I found the clutch master cylinder is leaking. So my question is, could this be causing the weird clutch feeling, or could it be something more serious? The problem I'm experiencing is that the clutch won't engage until u barely bring ur foot up from the clutch pedal and grabs almost instantly with no inbetween, and the peddal itself feels a bit floppy. So I was wondering if anyone else had any experiences with leaking clutch master cylinders. Thanks guys!

There is no doubt the leaky clutch master cylinder could cause the pedal feel you described.

But what the heck did the $1,600 receipt show? Obviously it's not 'fixed'.

Mine was the slave cylinder. But it matched your exact description. Mine was leaking on the slave cylinder itself, not the reservoir. I could add fluid and pump the clutch it would help some but just leak out. I think it was 80 bucks at my honda dealership and not hard to replace.

If there is fluid leaking, that's probably where the problem is
I can't believe he paid 1600 and it's still not fixed. A new master is what, 125 bucks. New slave is like 50...

Thanks for the replies guys! Yah I guess 10,000 miles ago on the s2k he said the clutch was slipping so he showed me the receit of him getting it replaced at the honda dealership, not sure if the clutch master cylinder was leaking during the clutch job or afterwards, but eather way that's good to here now I'm not as worried and yah it should be pretty simple to replace : D.

^ yea dude its deff the master clutch cylinder thats making it feel really wird. Mine is leaking really slow too and i didnt know untill all the fluid was allmost gone so i topped it off and the clutch peddle+engagement point felt wierd as hell untill i bleed out an air buble, it still felt a lil wierd and went back to normal feel and engagement point after about a week so now i just keep adding fluid evry three weeks or so and its fine, like i said its a very small leak.. Honda quated me 76$ for a new one with my 25% off. I was just gona take it apart and change the seals but hod doesent sell them sepretly. So get the car change that **** and ull be good to go!

If anyone has info whare i can get the seals that would be great i would savce around 70 bucks.

O and one more thing I wanted to ask you guys. Their is a whine coming from the front end from about 3000-3500 rpms, the guy said it's because of the transmission and that all s2000's do it. It's a very slight whine and goes away after 3500 rpms. Anyone else have this?
