Default Clutch Problem

Ok, so here's the story. Car has around 87,000 miles on it, and it's started to have a few problems which seem pretty clutch oriented. Originally it started out as whenever the car was cold, the clutch would act as if it was engaged, regardless of if the clutch petal was pushed in or not. So even if I had my foot down on the clutch, it would act like a automatic transmission car and try to lurch forward. After looking to see what might cause this, we found out that the clutch master cylinder had a leak in it. So the question is would a problem such as this be caused by a bad master and/ or slave cylinder? Thank you.

You answered your own question. The clutch master cylinder was leaking. Replace it and bleed the new one.

I was just trying to make sure that it would be a bad master cylinder that would cause this problem then..., which it sounds like it would? If so, thank you.
