ok so i just rebuild my gsr motor finally got it put back together and being trying to get it to start for 3 weeks now and i'm stumped, we done the timing like 8 times on the 7th time we got it to start and it wouldnt idle it would die, we adjusted the dizzy for like an hour, still nothing so i figured it was off a little on the timing so we just redid the timing again and now it wont start at all it, it backfired a few times and i'm just lost. we have fuel and spark and air have tested all of them like 100000 times and i'm just lost looking for some ideas or any direction
thanks
thanks
You need to check the basics. Getting spark, air and fuel are basics but if your cam timing is off, your engine is getting all the right things at the wrong times.
Easiest thing to check is your firing order. Make sure your plug wires are in the right order on the cap and the cylinder. If that's correct, you need to put everything to TDC (top dead centre) on the number one cylinder (driver side) and make sure your cam gears are lined up and your crank timing mark is lined up to where they should be. IF these things are all correct and it still doesn't start, you need to tell us what else was done to your motor.

Make sure you didn't switch the TPS and Map sensor plugs on accident. I've seen that happen many times.
Do a compression test, post the numbers. Also, your plugs may be fouled out.

If not, it's a timing issue, either cam or spark.
