::i need turbo help::

i have a 96 civic EX with a d16y8 engine and i would like to run a apex'i turbo, with a apexi turbo timer and about 6 pounds of boost. thats a project i plan for next spring but my dilema being i have 110,000 miles on my engine now. by next spring most likely 7,000+ i would assume. now will running what i want suck the reamining life out of my engine?? i need help and suggestions in the worst way. any feed back is recomended. thanxx. -jeremy!!

not to be a party pooper and this is just my opinion. with a motor with that many miles and being a d16, I personally would rather spend the money on doing a motor swap for at least a b16a. Just my opinion.

i would love to do a swap to a B18c but i just dont have the money. that swap would cost me more then the turbo not to mention install... damn damn damn. thanxx for your .02

i found a B16A si-r 2 engine(long block) on http://www.hondamotorsonline.com for $499.00 but i need more info on it. i dunno. research is my friend!!
i have 92k on my d16y8 im bout to put my greddy turbo on, i told my friends we'll boost and see what happens...moving to the b-series would just be a different league...to much for what im goin for. fun indeed tho.
I have 69,000 on my D16Y8, I have made sure though that it is a sound condition for turbo, and it'll be turboed. Soon I will buy another complete D16Y8 and have it sent in to have engine work done on it. SOHC power rules!!!!

i do i have myu engine checked>? i'm just so lost on the whole thing. i mean i was told i should have the engine rebuilt with new rods and stuff and then turbo. i cant really afford all that i'll need plus the turbo and accessories. and again i just have no idea.

Turbo = $. Consider a ZEX nitrous kit, $500 and you can sell it later or transfer it to a different vehicle.
Do the rebuild now and resave for a turbo.....You will have a fresh engine and more power if you chose to go to a higher compression. A lot of people will tell you that if you are going to turbo a engine that you have to go to a lower compression but that is not true. You will however be running lower boost and need very good tuning to turbo higher compression but that doesn't mean it can't be done....

i dunno the steps for a engine rebuild. i was thinking about looking into that as well. and you happen to know an average cost of that?? i apologize for my noobie-ness about this whole matter. thanxx. -jeremy!!
I am no expert by any means but for my setup whe nI rebuild all I am doing is new rods and pistons and of course all new bearings gaskets etc.....I don't know about the top end stuff....

Here is my very beginner .02 cents. It's probably closer to .01
When you rebuild the engine, you're basically looking at pistons, rods, rings, bearings (sp?), and seals. That basically takes care of the bottom end. Rebuilding the head can be stuff like new valves, springs, retainers, porting and polishing. I'm not sure if all that is really necessary. Some builds do include stuff like resleeving balancing, micro-polishing, and probably lots of other **** I've never heard of.
B18bturbo, a Moderator here supposedly does awesome work. In an old thread I posted about who I should send my block to and everyone had wonderful things to say about him. Also, there was a post maybe a day or two ago that had a lot of info on balancing an engine. There are lots of guys here that know their stuff. Keep asking questions and try searching, I usually spend most of my time reading old posts rather than the new stuff it seems.
