Default turbo timer?

hey this might sound stupid as hell, but my friend with a 3000gt vr4 knows that im doing a swap, and he said that to help preserve the life of the engine i could get a turbo timer, even though i dont have turbo he said that it is still bad to turn off a hot engine and it would help preserve the new motor. is this BS? Waste of money? ever done?

sorry, please dont flame

you don't need it...but you could use it. It'll help cool down the engine at an efficient rate.

I had turbo on my Civic before, i left the turbo timer in the ride after i took out the turbo kit. doesnt do anything except looks coo when you walk out of the car and the engine is still on for 10 seconds.

miles? dude it's a honda!!!! my old girlfriend had an 86 lude and guess what it had 212k miles then she sold it for 1k!!!! yeah thats right $1,000 for an 86 lude w/ 212k miles and it ran like a champ. no need for the timer, just after a hard run like at the track let it idle or drive it slow for a minute or too. if you're worried about it being hot get an oil cooler, if you buy the core for $40 you can fab. the rest for cheap. thats a hella help!!! timer's are only $70 too if you really want one though
