Default SRS Light

I am a newbie to this forum, and i have a problem that i am hoping you guys can help me with... i have a 5th gen prelude, and recently i replaced a blown fuse (the one for the radio/accessories) and for some reason now my SRS light is on, and it wont turn off... I have tried everything from unplugging the battery in the hopes that the sensor would reset or something, and that didnt work... My question is, does anyone know how to reset the SRS system? or is this something i should take into the dealer?? hoping you guys might be able to help.

Yeah, you have to reset the SRS system by dubbing around with the service port under the driver's side dash. Involves jumping the service connector with a paper clip a few times in a row. I've done it before, but don't remember the exact process. It's explained clearly in the Helms - but if you don't have one running a search on www.preludeonline.com should provide good results.

Thanks, sounds a little tricky so i think i will either follow your advice and search for more information online regarding the reset, or i might just break down and take it to the dealer and let them do it.... The more i mess with it the more nervous i get thinking that something i do is gonna make them go off or something... anyhow, thanks for the advice...

here's to you!

Dumpdlude,
I understood that once you locate the connector under the dash, all you have to do is use a paper clip to complete the circuit... i tried it several times, and failed miserably... I followed the directions i found on Preludeonline.com and tried multiple times, and sure enough the SRS light is still on... I think i am gonna end up having to take it in to the honda dealer and have them do it because i am getting really tired of staring at this red light... i am thinking that maybe my problem is a littlle more serious than just something i can reset... anyhow, here is something i found online not sure if it helps, but here it is...

1) Ignition OFF
2) Connect a jumper wire to the the "Memory Erase Signal" (MES) connector (2pin). This two pin connector is either Grey wires or Green. Mine was a green connector I think and NOT yellow. There should only be two 2P connector to be found up under the driver's side dash to the driver's side of the steering column. I used a paper clip with a electrical tape to make an insulated holder with two pin sticking out.

3) Turn the Ignition ON

4) SRS light comes on for about 6 SECONDSand goes off. Remove the jumper within 4 SECONDS after the SRS light goes OFF.

5) The SRS light comes on again. Jumper the connector again within 4 SECONDS.

6) The SRS light goes OFF. Remove the jumper within 4 SECONDS. (Yes that's another 4secs )

7) You will know at this point if you got it right when the SRS light blinks twice (memory erased)

8) Turn the ignition OFF, and wait 10 SECONDS.

good luck! let me know if it works for you....
