Default b20 swap

hey guys im building another sol, another 93 S (i find them easily and cheap) this one is going to my nephew when he turns 16 so he and i are building it together. i dont want to go crazy with it or anything, just give him a nice car to start off with. later on we can cr/vtec the thing or just boost, but w/e thats not my question. i was curious what 5 speed tranny is recomended, what ecu to use, and if there is anything else i would need, im not using power steering because the 93 s doesnt have it anyways.

get a b16 trans and a ls 5th swap. the b16 tranny has short gears for the torque of a b20. the ls 5th is for highway driving.

or if you have some money to blow get a gsr tranny.

You can use any B-series manual tranny, and the B18b ecu is a good match for the B20's. Shift linkage I believe is Del Sol specific as the chassis is shorter than the others, don't quote me on that though as I don't deal with Del Sol's much.

he is correct the shift linkage is different for a del sol than integra and civic b series shift linkage so you'll have to find i believe the 93-97 b16a3 from the delsol, thats if you didnt know that already. anyway, i would say probably get a gsr or ls tranny for better gas mileage since b20 already has torque to cover it. the b16 tranny had shorter gears to make up for it lacking in torque so theres not really a need to get a b16 tranny unless your looking to haul *** right off the bat and you stated that you dont plan on doing that til later

Just put a single cam in it and let him drive it as is. Either way its going to end up wrecked with a 16 year old behind the wheel.

its not going to end up wrecked, he and i already talked about it, there are going to be alot of rules, one mess up and im taking the car back. i was thinking the b16 tranny because i was looking and the CRV manual tranny's gears are actually closer than the b16's, same concecept as having 4.10s in a big truck, its to help move the weight arround, and geared for torque. i was most curious about the ecu, i was not sure if a crv manual ecu would be good because of the AWD and i thought an LS ecu would possibly run a little lean. Thanks for the info everyone, i already knew about the linkages, ive alerady built one, i was just unsure about a b20 swap, will standard del sol b series mounts work?
