Car is turning over but it won't start and the "D" light on the automatic gauge cluster is flashing. It's a 92' Prelude AWS

sounds like a gear selector malfunction... seems like it thinks the car is in gear and wont allow it to crank. But, not too many autos around so the solution is more than likely going to be found in the helms manual.

 

Well to give more details, the car just stopped running, so Dad started probing around and started seeing if it has spark and it does, for some reaosn the fuel pump isn't coming on, so he starts messing with a bad connecter he found on the Distributor. He connected +12v to a pinon the Distributor plug and heard the Fuel pump click on. He said he heard a relay come on. he started it and it ran. He disconnected the +12v from the pin and it continued to run after that. Then later on he tried to start it again it wouldn't start and the "D" was flashing. So something is clicking on and off making the car NOT want to start.

 

It's just like the check-engine light, but for the tranny. Read codes just like reading CEL codes. Jumper the same wire, but the D4 light will flash instead (or along with) the CEL.

If the fuel pump isn't turning on and you're hearing a relay click then it's probably the main relay. Though I dunno what that would have to do with the transmission code...

 

Where is the main relay, and how do you reset it.

Is the pressure switch on the tranny? I would assume the pressure switch it what tells the tranny when to shift right?
